The Bees' Neasden
Neasden was once described by no lesser figure than Sir John Betjeman as 'the home of the gnome and the average citizen' - not perhaps the most complimentary thing that he could have said, and a bit of a funny description considering that the retro icon Twiggy was born there. Then again, at least he liked it more than he liked Slough... the satirical magazine 'Private Eye' used to be printed there and as a result it's a place that has featured regularly in it's pages over the years - The University Of Neasden was formally The IKEA North Circular Polytechnic while Neasden United F.C. play in The North Circular Relegation League, are managed by the 'ashen-faced supremo Ron Knee aged 59' and only have two fans, Sid and Doris Bonkers. Maybe funnier still is that was once a real football team called Athletico Neasden. Even Private Eye couldn't make that up.
This cool retro-styled t-shirt honours Neasden - The Bees' Neasden.
