Russian Dolls - You're Full Of Yourself
The first Russian nested doll set (also known as Matryoshka or Babushka dolls, 'babushka' being the Russian word for 'grandmother') was carved by Vasily Zvyozdochkin in 1890. Originally based on characters in traditional Russian costume they've since depicted everything from film stars and musicians to animals and robots, and during the Perestroika ('restructuring') times of the late 1980's sets were made showing 20th Century Russian leaders. We don't think they've ever featured people wearing t-shirts but that hasn't stopped us making a t-shirt with Russian dolls on it. Well, sometimes you just have to get on with it don't you? We'll let you know when the t-shirt themed dolls appear, and if they don't we might even make them ourselves.
