Oh My Goodness
The term 'one hundred dollar hamburger' doesn't, as you might expect, describe a hamburger that costs $100. It is actually aviation slang to describe flying somewhere for the sake of it, for example to eat at an airport restaurant. Perhaps the most famous (maybe that should be 'infamous'?) example of what might be called 'Man vs. Food' occurred on the evening of February 1st 1976, when Elvis Presley flew over 1,000 miles from Memphis to Denver for a sandwich. Well it was actually 22 sandwiches for himself, two visiting policemen and some members of The Memphis Mafia, which I suppose makes it all cool? Incidentally the whole adventure cost over $16,000; he could have bought this retro-styled t-shirt for a lot less. Oh my goodness indeed.
