Ah yes, St. Patrick's Day - is it (a) a reverential celebration of the life of a internationally significant religious figure, or (b) an excuse for anyone who's even vaguely of Irish decent to get blitzed and drone on and on about 'de auld country' despite the fact that they've never even been there? Somewhere between the two, we reckon... then again if you think that sort of thing goes on a lot over here then you should go to America, where everybody and their mate puts an 'O' in front of their surname then dyes the nearest river green. And on the Caribbean island of Montserrat they've made it a national holiday - strange but true.
Also strange but true - St. Patrick was actually English, he was taken to Ireland to work as a slave when he was about 14, is said to have rid the country of all of it's snakes and may or may not have lived to be 100 years old.
If anyone deserves a series of retro t-shirts in their honour it's St. Patrick - you could wear one while you're out havin' der craic and mispronouncing the word slainte. Big horror.
