I Slappa Da Bass

Bass players are always cool aren't they? And they always seem to have such great names - back in the '50's there was Monk Montgomery, Shifty Henry, Bill Black and our very own Jet Harris; then in the 1960's John Entwistle turned the bass into a weapon of mass destruction and Paul McCartney and James Jamerson extended it's musical boundaries alongside Jack Bruce, Noel Redding and Bill Wyman, before Larry Graham came up with 'slap bass' in the early '70's. Bruce Foxton was great in The Jam (not sure about the haircut 'though!) and Sid Vicious might not have been able to play very well but he didn't half look good; then there's Lemmy, Paul Simonon, Norman Watt-Roy, Jean-Jacques Burnel, Pino Palladino, Flea...
