Timex Watches
Incredibly, Timex originated in 1854 in Conneticut USA and made it's very first inexpensive timepiece in 1880. Quite what they were up to in the 26 years previous in anyone's guess, presumably they were just making "expensive" ones! Timex were the first company to produce a lucrative tie-in by teaming up with Disney in 1933 to produce a Mickey Mouse watch with Mickey's hands acting as the watch hands and pointing out the time. Timex didn't actually produce watches featuring the now famous "Timex" brand until 1950.
Modern Classic Digital Watches.
The 1970s were difficult for American watch and clock companies with the market being filled up with pieces from the Far East but with designs that have now become modern classics Timex managed to hold their own and still employ over 5000 people today.
