Advertising Helps Me Decide T-shirt
Advertising has been helping us all decide since papyrus posters were used in Ancient Egypt. In the Middle Ages shop signs incorporated graphics as well as words because most people couldn't read - for example a sign for our t-shirt shop would also have a t-shirt on it. In 1836 the French newspaper 'La Presse' became the first publication to feature paid advertising, and in the 1920's radio stations began to incorporate sponsorship into their programmes, a practice adopted by television stations in the 1950's. They then began selling commercials during programmes, and these days over $500 billion is spent on advertising Worldwide each year. How would we all decide without it?
Here's a very cool t-shirt that celebrates the power of the placard. And since you can't get much more retro than advertising on papyrus we just might start doing that in our shop.
