In the 11th Century, Lady Godiva rode her horse naked through the streets of Coventry in protest against the high taxes. The deal was nobody was supposed to look. However, legend has it some fella called Tom couldn’t resist and took a peek – and the expression "Peeping Tom" was born. So there you have it. Two things to put Coventry on the map. After that, for 900 years- nothing happened in Coventry. In the 20th Century, it became the home of the British motor industry. It’s not really quite as exciting but we couldn’t find a picture of a naked woman on a horse so here’s a t shirt with a car on it instead. Royal blue shirt with white print. Sorry.
