Kids Hitchin Is Bitchin' T-shirt
The River Hiz flows through Hitchin, and although these days it's pronounced phonetically it used to be pronounced 'Hitch' and so gave the town it's name. Legend has it that no lesser historical figure than King Henry VIII used to pole vault across the river, which was all well and good in his youth but when he tried it again in later years the pole snapped because he'd put on weight and he ended up in the water.
